Rebekah Torres, F.N.P.Nurse Practitioner

    Growing up in the Dominican Republic, Rebekah Torres, fluent in Spanish, helped interpret for English-speaking medical groups serving in that country. Because of this experience, she decided early in life to become a nurse. A Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and member of the team at the Neurology and Pain Specialty Center, Rebekah specializes in movement disorders, specifically Parkinson’s disease. She also has extensive experience and a comprehensive knowledge of Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS). Rebekah performs many duties, including coordinating surgical candidates for deep brain stimulation, providing their follow-up care and adjusting deep brain stimulators.

    In 2002, Rebekah graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego with a B.S. in nursing. In 2007, she earned her M.S. in nursing/family nurse practitioner.

    In 2002, Rebekah started her professional career at South Coast Medical Center in Laguna Beach, California and remained there until 2007. She provided full patient care on the medical/surgical/telemetry unit, including full physical assessments, administering medications and monitoring cardiac status. As Charge Nurse, she collaborated with multiple disciplines, including physicians, physical therapists, nutritionists and case managers.

    In 2003, Rebekah teamed with Dr. Martinez to organize and manage his Movement Disorder Clinic.

    Rebekah is a member of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners, the Transcultural Nursing Society, American Academy of Neurology, International Movement Disorder Society.

    When she’s not working, Rebekah likes to spend time with her husband, their three children and her family.
